Update: Just in case our item wasn't clear enough, here are some more choice words from Gyllenhaal's rep about that alleged bar incident:

"Our client is taking such strong and immediate action because of the seriousness of the issue behind the allegation. He would never harm a woman, or touch a woman in anger. Such behavior is not only criminal, but personally abhorrent to him."

Did Jake Gyllenhaal roughhouse with a woman this weekend?

No, we don't mean in the fun way, babes. There's a report going around that the Prince of Persia star got into a little altercation up in Montreal over the weekend.

And we're here to sort things out for you...

The alleged incident supposedly went down Saturday night at restaurant Garde-Manger.

Apparently Gyllenhaal was dancing on the bench of his table with a group of pals, ticking off a blogger from DrunkenStepfather a few feet away who found the show to be quite egocentric.

Said blogger then went up to Jake's table, turned to a girl there and goes (according the blogger himself): "Hey isn't that the guy who kissed Heath Ledger?"

Gyllenhaal apparently got in the guys face, told him to f--ck off and got the dude escorted out of the club. Only problem is in this he-said, he-said tale is that the blogger also claims his female guest was pushed about 10 times by Gyllenhaal before J.G.'s crew pulled him away.

Gyllenhaal's rep claims blogger's story is "libelous" and informs us his lawyers are taking "immediate action."

And for more info on what really went down, here's what we've learned:

Jake was definitely at the restaurant Saturday night (he's a regular there) as was the blogger. Main discrepancy here? We're told by sources who were present that the blogger in question said, "Hey isn't that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?" prompting Jake to yell to the bouncers "get these guys out of my face."

The instigator and his crew were then thrown out.

We originally read this blog post yesterday, where the site definitely had "killed" not "kissed" up until it was later changed. The post actually backs up this supposed kill claim by ranting in the item that if Jake was Ledger's friend, he probably would have been there for him in his low point.

Seriously can't say we blame Gyllenhaal's heated reaction. "Isn't that the guy who killed Heath Ledger?" Not a funny joke, dude. We wish punches were thrown.

As for this girl who was supposedly caught in the crossfire? Onlookers tell us "there were a bunch of girls" there but "no one was shoved or hurt."

Jake is currently in Montreal filming Source Code, which won't be affected by this nonincident. We hear filming has been going "great" up there before this.

The brand new trailer for "Prince of Persia - The Sands of Time" has been shown internationally at the Super Bowl, which has mesmerized in front of every sort of screen almost the entire globe.

The film starring Jake Gyllenhaal will be in theaters on 26 May, and is entirely taken from the homonymous game.

Jake in the role of Prince Dastan must recover all costs, and with the help of the dagger, the mysterious Sands of Time that will enable him to control such events through time itself. In the trailer you can admire the many special effects used to make the film!

The flop of Nine did not seem to quench the thirst of musicals in Hollywood. After the announcement of the remake of A Star Is Born, for which they were hired the singer Beyoncé Knowles and (perhaps) Russell Crowe, arrives on a film version of Damn Yankees, already brought to the screen in 1958.

The protagonist of the film is Jake Gyllenhaal, in the role of an avid baseball fan who makes a pact with the devil to become the greatest player ever existed, and thus lead his team in the World Series. To embody the devil there will be none other than Jim Carrey, who, after being star of Bruce Almighty brings me to the dark side of Christianity.

The film will be directed by Todd Graff, who has already made last year as a musical film Bandslam - High School Band. The director is in his first job with a big budget, but his side a solid stage career in musicals and critical praise that has identified in his work Bandslam much more successful and less crafty High School Musical.

Is not yet well known the release date of the film, but it is conceivable that is fixed for the summer of 2012.

He added: "But I have always wanted to finish my degree." Meanwhile, it has been reported that Gyllenhaal is desperately trying to win back Reese Witherspoon. According to In Touch Weekly magazine, Jake has been buying Reese expensive gifts in the hope she'll take him back.

It was previously reported that the pair split because Reese - who is divorced from hunky actor Ryan Phillippe - didn't want to get married.

This year, she has said her daughter Ava "wants a horse." She suggested she is still on the fence about buying her that present.

Springsteen: Creative rush drove new album
NEW YORK - Bruce Springsteen says he was energized to make a new album quickly after recording a song he calls a "love-in-the-time-of-Bush meditation."
In notes posted on his Web site Tuesday, Springsteen explains the creation of his new disc "Working on Dream" (due out Jan. 27) - which follows his last album, "Magic," by only 15 months - an unusually quick turnaround for him.
It started with the song "What Love Can Do."

Lawsuit over 'Kingdom' crash is dismissed
LOS ANGELES - A lawsuit against director Peter Berg over an accident that killed an assistant propmaster on "The Kingdom" set has been dismissed.
The parents of Nick Papac sued Berg, a driver and a production company in August over an accident that killed their son in 2006.

According to court documents, his parents, Stephen Gyllenhall and estranged wife Naomi Foner, are exchanging bitter words regarding their ongoing divorce.
"I have repeatedly asked Stephen to pay his one-half share of our bills, and he has refused to do so," Foner claims in divorce papers published obtained by TMZ.com.
And according to an email obtained by the New York Post, Foner has said "I have been clear that if worse comes to worse, I will let all of this collapse into ruin, just as I believe letting the markets crash and burn [is] the right approach. Pain now for clarity and balance later."

Last week the newspaper reported that the "Brokeback Mountain" actor, 27, and Witherspoon, 32, who met while filming the thriller "Rendition," were to be married this coming Christmas.

A source close to the actor said Gyllenhaal "told me he had proposed several times but she kept telling him she wanted to give their relationship more time. When he asked her again a couple of weeks ago, she finally said yes."

Though the actor's rep shot down rumors of an engagement, a source told USmagazine.com that the couple is getting more serious. Gyllenhaal has reportedly moved in with the Oscar-winning actress, and the couple recently returned from a European vacation with Witherspoon's children Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4.

With a talent and instinct beyond his years, Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal (pronounced Jill-en-hall) is on the fast track toward stardom. Even in the early stages of his career, he has starred opposite several of today's most respected actors such as Heath Ledger, Dustin Hoffman, Laura Dern, Holly Hunter, Chris Cooper, John C. Reilly and Susan Sarandon. He has caught the attention of audiences and critics with a series of powerful performances, and this year will be no exception.

He established himself as a member of Hollywood's new generation of action stars. In Fox's THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, Gyllenhaal starred opposite Dennis Quaid in the futuristic film which depicted the devastating effects of global warming on Earth. He was in the adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play PROOF for director John Madden. The Miramax film also starred Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins.

Gyllenhaal earned his first Oscar nomination for the coveted role of "Jack" in Focus Features' highly acclaimed BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. The film, which chronicled an intense relationship between two Wyoming stockmen, was directed by Ang Lee and costarred Heath Ledger.

Gyllenhaal was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for best actor in the critically acclaimed DONNIE DARKO. A favorite at the Sundance Film Festival, the New Market release combines elements of mystical fantasy and science fiction with teenage romance. The film, directed by first-time director Richard Kelly, co-stars Drew Barrymore, Jena Malone and Noah Wyle.

Gyllenhaal starred in another Sundance favorite in 2002, THE GOOD GIRL. In the dark comedy, he portrays a young man who falls in love and has a torid affair with a married woman (played by Jennifer Aniston.) The film is directed by Miguel Arteta, and also stars John C. Reilly, Zooey Deschanel, and Catherine O' Hara. The film was distributed by Fox Searchlight.

Gyllenhaal also starred in the Touchstone film, MOONLIGHT MILE, written and directed by Brad Silberling. Set in New England in the early 70s, the unlikely love story revolved around a young man who finds himself lingering in the family home of his fiancee, after her untimely death. While grieving along with her parents, played by Dustin Hoffman and Susan Sarandon, he gets drawn into legal issues presented by a district attorney (Holly Hunter) seeking justice for the family, and finds himself falling in love with another woman against his own best intentions.

Marking his theater debut, Gyllenhaal appeared on the London stage with a starring role in Kenneth Lonergan's revival of This Is Our Youth. The play, which was a critical sensation on Broadway, ran for eight weeks in London's West End. Gyllenhaal portrayed a rich kid who spends a decadent weekend stealing, dealing, and consuming drugs along side Hayden Christensen and Anna Paquin. For the role, Gyllenhaal received an Evening Standard Theater Award in the category of "Outstanding Newcomer."

Gyllenhaal's other projects include Lions Gate Fims' LOVELY AND AMAZING, a comedy starring Catherine Keener and Brenda Blethyn. The film was screened at the 2001 Toronto Film Festival and was released last summer. He was also seen in "Highway," a story of self-discovery in which he stars opposite Jared Leto and Selma Blair as a pair of best friends who travel to Seattle after Kurt Cobain's death to escape their dreary lives in Las Vegas.

Gyllenhaal also starred in the Walt Disney romantic comedy, BUBBLE BOY. The film is the story of his adventure outside the confines of his bubble as he goes after the woman he loves before she marries the wrong man. BUBBLE BOY also starred Swoosie Kurtz and Marley Shelton and was directed by Blair Hayes.

Gyllenhaal was first given notice for his heartwarming performance in the Universal film, OCTOBER SKY , directed by Joe Johnston. The film tells the triumphant story of Homer Hickman, Jr. (Gyllenhaal), a gifted high school student in rural West Virginia, who seemed destined to repeat his father's harsh life in the coal mines until he turned his attention upward to the skies.
